Visiting Miss Texas 2012
I had an incredible past three days being in Allen, Tx supporting all the contestants competing for the title of MissTX 2012. These ladies were beautiful, talented and intelligent. I know how much hard work and determination it takes to be the BEST YOU you can be.
All of the contestants worked so hard for what they presented on the stage: My hat goes off to the amount of work each girl put into getting their body in amazing shape, having impecable talent, and grace throughout the last few days I was here. You can tell that these girls did not train just the for the 8 weeks they have been out of school, but they train year round for the job of Miss Texas.
MANY of these ladies have been competing within the Miss America Org. for several years and have put their heart and soul into preparing for the job of Miss Texas, but at the end of the day there can only be ONE winner to represent the state.
Tears came to my eyes when I saw how deserving NUMEROUS of these ladies were of the title of Miss Texas 2012. It overjoyed me to see the girls who didn't win congratulate the winner, DaNae Couch, Miss Dallas. They lost graciously knowing that they took away so much more than the crown last night. They took away memories, friends, and a drive to strive for excellence in the future.
This is precisely what the Miss America Org. has taught me. There have been several pageants that I did not win, but I viewed it as God having a greater purpose for me. It lit a fire in my heart for me to work even harder to better myself and achieve my goals. Each year that goes by, every appearance that I made, and every life that I touched gave me a feeling that let me know why I volunteer my time for a variety of causes as a title holder. I could not be more grateful for every handshake, smile, and friendship made through the Miss America Organization.
There are so few girls who ever obtain the opportunity to represent their state and compete at Miss America. Thousands of girls compete and never win, but without a doubt the memories, friendships, life lessons, and personal characteristics you obtain are way more than worth it. I cherish the honor of serving and representing New Mexico, not for what people want me to be but simply as Candice. The photo directly to the left is very special. It is of several former Miss New Mexico's who still support the Miss America Organization today for what it has taught them and the friendships they made.
Congratulations to all the girls who competed. You all looked stunning! I am honored to have met so many incredible women these last few days. As I journey back home to New Mexico, I cannot wait to brag how about how each young lady had a heart of gold! Best wishes.
